Where will Tableau Conference 2018 be held?

Tableau Conference 2018 will be in the Ernest N Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, LA.

What are the scheduled events for TC18?

Tableau Conference takes place October 22-25, 2018. Looking to book your travel? We suggest arriving Monday morning or midday and returning home with a full brain on Thursday mid to late afternoon. The full agenda won’t be available for a couple more months, but here is a breakdown of anticipated daily activities:

  • Monday - Training workshops for pre-conference attendees (8:30 AM start), Registration open, Featured Meetups, Welcome Reception.
  • Tuesday - Morning Tableau keynote, breakout sessions, hands-on trainings, and Data Village open.
  • Wednesday - Morning Tableau keynote, breakout sessions, hands-on trainings, Data Village open, Iron Viz Championship, and Data Night Out.
  • Thursday - Morning guest keynote, breakout sessions, hands-on trainings, Data Village open, and post-conference Certification Exams (7:30 PM end).
Is there a TC18 mobile app?

Will meals be provided?

Yes, we'll feed you! Daily meals and snacks will be available.

  • Monday - Breakfast and lunch provided for Training Workshops and Certification Exam participants only. Snacks and beverages provided at Welcome Reception for all attendees.
  • Tuesday - Breakfast and lunch provided.
  • Wednesday - Breakfast and lunch provided. Wide variety of food and beverages available at Data Night Out.
  • Thursday - Breakfast and lunch provided.
Can I join the event as a sponsor?

Where can I find TC18 maps?

All campus, sponsor, and Data Night Out maps are available in the TC18 mobile app. To view specific locations on the map, tap the location within a description to see it pinned on a map.

At TC18, how do I get my badge?

Make your first stop at the registration desk in the Great Hall Foyer on level 1 of the convention center to pick up your badge. Our friendly staff will welcome you with open arms to scan your QR code or search with your contact info to print your badge (valid ID is required to pick-up). A valid badge must be displayed during all hours of the conference and any related events, including parties.

Will there be a mothers or prayer room at TC18?

Yes, we will have rooms available onsite for this purpose. Find location and more information in the Event Info section of the TC18 mobile app.

How do I get from the airport to the conference?

Ground transportation (taxi or shuttle) is available from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). For more information click here.

With all of the activity at TC18, is there a place to unwind?

Introversion is real. Do you need a tech-free moment to yourself? We understand. Head to a Digital Detox room to unplug, relax, and recharge. There will be soft seating, mood lighting, calming noises, mini-fountains, and a general sense of “zen." Leave your work at the door and screens and sounds off as this is a meeting and technology-free zone.

How much does it cost?

Full conference price is $1,795.

Government, education, or non-profit Tableau customer? If you qualify, enjoy $600 off your registration using a code provided by your sales representative.


  • Training Workshops: $650 (in addition to conference fee)
  • Certification Exams: Per-exam fee (in addition to conference fee)
  • Conference Guest Pass: $275 (Guest Pass provides admission to Welcome Reception and Data Night Out only)

Please note: Training and certification fees are not included in your conference registration fee.

How do I register for Training Workshops or Certification Exams?

Add a Training Workshop via the registration portal here. If you've already registered you may sign in, add your desired Training Workshop, and pay via credit card. Certification Exams will be open for registration in 2019. If you have questions please email the Tableau Conference team.

I received a discount code. How do I apply it to my registration?

On the Promo page of the registration process, enter your code into the "Promo Code" field and click the Continue button. Your discounted total will appear on the Review page before you submit your payment.

Can I use more than one promotional code (if applicable)?

Sorry, only one code may be used per attendee. Also, if we are in a discount period (Ex. "Early Bird") that doesn't require a code an additional discount code cannot be used to compound the discount. If your discount code offers a deeper discount than the current promotional offer, it will offer the less expensive option.

Are there scholarships available?

Scholarships are not available. However, government, non-profit, and education (students included) customers get a $600 discount off the full conference price using the following codes (no expiration date):

What methods can I use to pay?
How will my credit card payment appear on my statement?

Conference fees for Tableau Conference 2018 will show up on your credit card statement as TABLEAU SOFTWARE INC.

How do I request a copy of my receipt?

For an additional copy of your receipt, simply email the Tableau Conference team with your request.

What is the payment policy?

Tableau accepts all major credit cards at the time of registration. For conference tickets via the offline payment method, a form of payment is due within 48 hours of registration. All purchase orders must list Net 30 payment terms. If your offline payment is past due, Tableau reserves the right to cancel your purchase at any time upon notice to you. Conference tickets must be paid in full by the start of the event.

May I bring a guest?

Absolutely. The more the merrier! You can purchase a Guest Pass during the registration process for $275 that covers admittance to the Welcome Reception (Monday, October 22) and Data Night Out customer party (Wednesday, October 24), which both include food and beverages. Please note: a Guest Pass is only valid for access to parties. It is not valid for admittance to any other conference-related activities.

Housing & Travel

Are there discounted hotel rates available?

At this time, our discounted housing through the hotel portal is closed. We recommend contacting the New Orleans hotel of your choice and reserving accommodations independently at your earliest convenience.

Event hotels are located within two miles of the Convention Center with conference shuttle service available at most properties. Visit the hotel map to see all conference hotels.

Do any airlines offer discounted fares?

Yes, based on availability and booking class.

Is there a deposit required to hold my hotel room?

A credit card is required to guarantee your room reservation. Your card will be charged approximately 4 weeks prior to arrival only if the hotel you choose requires a one (1) night’s deposit. A credit card will be required at check in to pay for all guest room charges.

Will I receive a hotel confirmation number after booking my hotel?

You will receive a hotel confirmation email within one (1) business day of completing your hotel reservation. Please note: the hotel will not receive reservations made with Tableau Conference until four weeks prior to arrival. Once the hotel has processed your booking you will be sent final reservation confirmation containing your hotel-based confirmation number. Until then, your reservation is secure with us.

Can you help me book or change my reservation?

For the fastest route to reservation changes, please have the original reservation holder contact the hotel directly. It is best to make the name change and any updates to date and the credit card guarantee directly through the hotel. This will ensure the soonest confirmation of the change.

I want to arrive earlier/stay later than the system is showing as available. How can I adjust my reservation?

The Tableau Conference team works with our hotel partners to secure discounted hotel options for attendees wishing to stay in New Orleans a little longer. Please note that event pre and post inventory is limited. If you can't find what your looking for, we encourage you to book with the hotel of your choice directly at their best available rate. Please feel free to reach out to our hotel team with any additional questions.

Cancellations & Substitutions

Are attendee substitutions allowed? If so, how do I do this?

They are! Conference tickets may be transferred between attendees from the same organization. Contact your salesperson, or the Tableau Conference team can assist you directly.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made over 90 days from the event (July 24, 2018) will be refunded the paid registration fee minus $100. Cancellations made between 45 days and 90 days from the event (July 25, 2018 – September 7, 2018) will be refunded the paid registration fee minus $500. Cancellations made less than 45 days from the event are not eligible for any refunds. Read more here.
If the conference is cancelled, Tableau Software will refund the full registration fee within 90 days of cancellation. Tableau Software is not responsible for airfare, hotel, or other costs. Conference cancellation requests should be emailed to theTableau Conference Operations team.

How do I cancel my hotel room?

As soon as you receive your hotel confirmation email you can click on the available link provided in the email to easily modify or cancel your hotel reservation within the event registration until September 30, 2018. After September 30, 2018 please contact the hotel directly to modify or cancel your reservation. Each hotel has its own cancellation policy; be sure to review the specific deadlines as outlined in your hotel confirmation email. In the event of a late cancellation or no-show, your reservation will be cancelled and you will be charged one (1) night's room rate plus applicable taxes.


Who should I contact if I have special dietary needs or allergies?

Let us know your dietary needs and/or restrictions during the registration process. If we have any questions or concerns, we will reach out to you directly.

Where can I find recorded sessions?

Tableau Conference 2018 keynotes (excluding Adam Grant) and a select list of breakout sessions are available to watch on demand with the full list available within 48 hours of event close on the watch page. Hands-on training sessions and guest keynotes are not recorded, but you can access the materials used in hands-on trainings post-event within each session in the session catalog within the same timeframe.

Will the event be filmed and photographed?

Yes. By entering and being at this event, you consent to be filmed and photographed. From time to time, Tableau uses recorded video and photographs of conference events and attendees in its promotional materials. Unless permission to record and use such images is revoked in writing to Tableau, by virtue of your attendance, you agree to the use of your likeness in such materials. All videography and photography will be done in reliance on the consent you give by entering the event.
